Fox Forest
Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better - Albert Einstein
We are extremely privileged to have access to a wonderful on site forest located within our school grounds lovingly known as Fox Forest. At Broadwaters we have an in depth understanding into the importance and benefits of outdoor learning in the early years and this is embedded throughout all aspects of our curriculum. We have staff members who are fully trained and highly skilled in delivering the Forest School approach to teaching.
What is a Forest School and what are the benefits?
Forest school is an approach to learning that takes children into the great outdoors whatever the weather to explore the natural environment. Forest school is a long-term, nature-based outdoor learning program that focuses on holistic development and growth in children. Forest schools allow children to spend their time learning and exploring the natural world in an exciting hands-on way that children love.
The children are able to connect with nature; develop their communication and listening skills, use their imagination and develop their problem solving, build their confidence and resilience as they take risks and most importantly have fun!
What happens in Fox Forest?
Our children are lucky enough to spend time each week in our Forest providing them with the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of activities, such as den building, searching for insects, making leaf pictures, climbing trees, creating fantasy worlds, caring for the environment and so much more! The children are also encouraged to explore freely alongside experienced and skilled child centered staff all of whom have a passion and understanding of the importance of outdoor learning.
All children in Forest class attend weekly and our rising three year olds in our Garden room join us! Parents are always welcome to join in our Forest School sessions - just speak to a member of staff!
