Food in school

We have lots of food choices here at the Willow including vegetarian/meat mains and meat free days on the menu.

Lunches/Lunchtime

The government now provides every child in Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6 with a FREE universal meal/lunch each day, which we strongly encourage our families to take up. We have food that is Halal only, and a wide range of salads and fruit too.

In addition, snacks such as fresh fruit or vegetables (eg, peas, bananas, tomatoes, carrots) are also provided as a morning snack free of charge for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 groups.

We are really proud of our lunches which are freshly prepared on the premises each day.

Each meal consists of a hot meat/vegetarian main, a hot vegetable side and depending on the meal, a carbohydrate hot side (eg, mashed potatoes, rice, pasta). We also have themed days; curry, meat free, traditional British, Fish and chips.

For families on certain benefits (ie Job seekers allowance/Universal credit) children may be entitled to free school meals. It is important for all families on benefits/low income to fill in the Free school meal form as this gives your child extra benefits throughout their primary school life.
